The “Military Industrial Complex”, as President Dwight D. Eisenhower described it, has largely been able to escape and subvert accountability for its war crimes in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Saudi Arabia, because it remains protected, and its ideology served, by the Washington foreign policy consensus; the group of diplomats, media figures, elected politicians, and others, who support and prop-up its talking points and aim to silence all opposition through undemocratic and authoritarian means.
The renewed assault and character assassination of college students demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the liberation of Palestine from the violent and oppressive apartheid regime of Israel is just the latest example.
